About

Here is the rewritten text:

"I am a Calgarian filmmaker and Harvard College student majoring in Film and History & Literature. I create fiction and nonfiction films to amplify social justice issues and drive cultural change, particularly focusing on diasporas, migration, and identity as a Muslim woman of East African Asian descent.

My short films include LONG DISTANCE (2021), which won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Alberta Short Film at the Calgary International Film Festival; JE SUIS (scripted), about Islamophobia in the classroom; and MAMA OF MANYATTA (editing), about HIV/AIDS and gender-based-violence in Kenya. Other projects are in development, including a short film on an Indian housewife and a Black domestic servant in 1960s East Africa, as well as a feature about a college student moving back to her South Asian immigrant family."
