- About
Carolina Hoyos (she/they) is a Queer Two Spirit first-generation Peruvian-Ecuadorian Afro-Indigenous Latine and Quariwarmi (non-binary). Born in Washington, DC, she has lived in various cities including NYC, San Francisco, and LA. She works as a writer, director, actress, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Her work focuses on quirky queer femme-led comedies, crime, and family stories that champion decolonized living. Recent projects include directing the theater feature hybrid solo festival Indigiqueer Identity: Reclaiming Past, Present and Future, producing and directing a new full-length Indigiqueer play, and writing a #MMIW solo piece.
She has won awards for her work with Native Voices Theater Ensemble, including directing Cashed Out and Thresholds and Threads. Her sitcom pilot Dad Pad earned a fellowship in the 2019 Native American TV Writers Lab and was shortlisted to be produced by Elizabeth Banks's digital content studio WhoHaHa. She also performs with improv and sketch troupes on PBS, Comedy Central, UCB, iOWest, ACME Noho, and The Clubhouse.
