Candace D. Patrick, a Los Angeles native, took an interest in screenwriting in high school, after joining the Scriptwriters Network High School Fellowship Program. She furthered her interest at Loyola Marymount University, earning a Screenwriting degree and focusing on narratives that accurately portray human experiences. She has travelled extensively, and her experiences have influenced her writings on topics such as mental health, grief and healing, and challenging the notion of the Strong Black Woman.

In 2019, Patrick wrote, directed and produced the award-winning short film, "The 5th Room". She has worked on multiple independent projects and her family drama pilot, "Harrington's Crossing", was a finalist in the Spring 2021 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices competition. Her script, "Finding JaMia's Spirit", secured her a spot as a 2023 Reel Sisters Micro Budget Film Fellow. Patrick enjoys travelling and spending time with her cat, Nougat, outside of writing.
